Let it be said that technology has advanced in the past 40 years. I was at University 40 years ago, studying elementary education, computer based education, and computer based communication. I started with punch cards, tape, teletypes and CRT screens on mainframe computers. I was lucky back then, because educational uses of computers had access to cutting edge technology. ARPANET had me on the pre-cursor of the Internet right from the start.
Now, cameras, microphones, lighting, high-speed Internet connections and other technology are a must for having an active YouTube channel. I feel like the guy in the bus broadcasting late night, early morning, UFO and strange happenings news and commentary. So be it.
On my list now are:
GoPro ~ Hero4 Silver sports camera
Blue Microphones ~ Yeti microphone
Additional studio table lighting
LogiTech ~ Webcam C930e
Additional memory cards
Faster cable Internet 30 MBPS
New cable modem for higher speed (after 8 years)
I can scarcely believe how advanced camera technology has become in recent years; and we have not seen anything yet. Wrapping my head around 250 megabyte HD video files (only 7 minutes long) is taking some effort; I started when 64K bytes was huge. It is clear that I do need a faster line; when did 15 MBPS become slow?
What I am using:
Fairly recent Dell XPS
Logitech ~ Webcam C920
Logitech ~ Webcam C525
Imagemaker Light Tent %70 discount at the thrift store
Countless inexpensive shop lights with CFS bulbs
6 tripods from tag sales and thrift shops
Canon PowerShot A2500
Canon PowerShot Elph 130 IS
Cool batteries and several chargers
A few memory cards
15 MBPS cable Internet
Old microphones and headsets
Tables, boards, props, fabric, art supplies
5 year old non-smart phone
Lots of imagination and upbeat humor
All the best,
Nicholas
